Bio
Trayectoria
Empecé en el fotoperiodismo en 1999, cubriendo actualidad para Europa Press, y poco después entré en La Razón, donde pasé más de veinte años fotografiando todo tipo de eventos: cultura, deportes, entrevistas, reportajes, e-commerce y actos corporativos. Durante ese tiempo aprendí a adaptarme rápido —cada evento y cada persona piden algo distinto— y a contar historias con una sola imagen, casi siempre bajo presión de tiempo.
En 2022 di un giro y empecé a dar clases de diseño gráfico; ese mismo año retomé mi formación como estudiante, terminando este 2026 el Grado en Fotografía por la UNIR. Hoy combino ambas cosas: enseño y sigo fotografiando, pero con una mirada distinta a la de mis años de redacción.
Lo que busco ahora
Después de dos décadas fotografiando lo que pasaba delante de mí, ahora disfruto eligiendo qué fotografiar y por qué. Me interesa la fotografía como espacio de pausa, no de urgencia. Retratos, interiores, paisaje, ciudad… proyectos que puedo construir con calma, en lugar de capturar en segundos.
La docencia también ha cambiado mi forma de mirar: explicar fotografía a otros me obliga a entender mejor por qué funciona una imagen, y eso se nota en mi propio trabajo.
Background
I began my career in photojournalism in 1999, covering current affairs for Europa Press, and shortly afterwards joined the staff of La Razón, where I spent more than twenty years photographing all kinds of events: culture, sport, interviews, feature stories, e-commerce and corporate functions. During that time I learned to adapt quickly — every event and every person calls for something different — and to tell a story through a single photograph, almost always working under considerable time pressure.
In 2022 I took a different path and started teaching graphic design; that same year I also went back to studying myself, and I have now completed my degree in Photography at UNIR in 2026. Today I combine both things: I continue to teach and to photograph, although with a rather different outlook to that of my years in the newsroom.
What I am looking for now
After two decades spent photographing whatever happened to be in front of me, I now thoroughly enjoy choosing what to photograph and why. I am drawn to photography as a space for reflection and pause, rather than one of urgency. Portraits, interiors, landscapes, the city… these are projects that I can build up gradually and calmly, rather than having to capture everything within a matter of seconds.
Teaching has also changed the way that I look at things: having to explain photography to other people forces me to understand more clearly why a particular image actually works, and that understanding is something that shows through in my own work as well.
